Here's how the policy works:*

  • Coverage is bound and policy is issued.
  • Policy holder must utilize written contract that contains offer, acceptance, price, terms, scope of work, and is signed by both parties. Make sure any "extras" are agreed to in writing as well.
  • Contractor has deemed that receivable is uncollectible using standard methods, has waited 30 days after completion of work, and has complied with all the mandatory notice/lien requirements that are necessary in their state. (We have arranged to accommodate this compliance information at no cost to all policy holders through  http://www.nlbaccess.com/)
  • Contractor submits claim for payment, and must include a copy of written contract, all change orders, communications between parties, and all necessary lien related notices, and a properly filed mechanic lien claim.
  • Claim is verified, and claim process will result in payment of claim (30 days+/-) by either the debtor or insurance company.  Mechanic lien rights will be assigned to insurance company upon payment.
